Disclosure and Barring Service
If you are offered employment at the Council, we may need to undertake a criminal record check as part of our pre-employment checks. We are a registered body with the Disclosure and Barring Service, and use this service to undertake all standard and enhanced level checks.
This document outlines the secure storage, handling, use, retention and disposal of DBS certificates and certificate information.
We treat DBS check applicants who have a criminal record fairly and do not discriminate because of a conviction or other information revealed.
This code of practice applies to all registered bodies of the DBS and refers to any information exchanged between the DBS and the Council.
